Privacy notice

I am Tim Dennis, a sole trader based in King's Lynn. I decide what happens to the information you send through this site, which makes me the data controller for it. You can reach me at[email protected].

I do not publish a postal address because I work from home. If you need one in writing, for a data request or anything else, email me and I will give it to you directly.

What the form collects

When you send the enquiry form, I receive:

• Your name and your business name
• Your email address and your phone number
• Your trade, and which of the three layers you said you were after
• Which layers you had switched on in the builder, if you used it
• Anything you wrote in the message box
• Which page you sent it from, and the page you arrived from
• The time it was sent

The form also carries a hidden field that only automated submissions fill in, and a timestamp used to spot a form filled in faster than a person can type. Both exist to keep spam out and neither tells me anything about you.

Why I am allowed to hold it

Because you asked me to. Sending the form is a request for me to do something for you, so the lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract. Keeping the record afterwards, so I know what was said and when, rests on my legitimate interest in running the business and being able to evidence what was agreed.

I do not send marketing. There is no mailing list, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from.

Where it goes

When you press send, two things happen in this order:

1. The enquiry is written as a row to a private Google Sheet, which is my record of what came in. That uses Google Workspace, and only I can open it.
2. A notification email is sent to my inbox through Resend, an email delivery service, and lands in a Google Gmail account. Your email address is set as the reply-to, so replying reaches you.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, so Cloudflare handles the request and keeps short-lived server logs, including your IP address, in the ordinary course of serving and protecting the site. If the sheet write or the email fails, a copy of your enquiry is emailed to me so it is not lost, which is the only circumstance in which it goes anywhere else.

Google, Cloudflare and Resend are processors acting on my instructions. Some of them process data outside the UK, under the transfer safeguards in their own terms. I do not sell your details, I do not pass them to other trades, and I do not add them to anybody's marketing list.

Cookies and measurement

This site sets no cookies until you say it may. Nothing is stored on your machine while the banner is still sitting there unanswered, and if you press Reject, nothing is stored at all.

If you press Accept, I use Google Analytics to see which pages get read. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_8XMH4HFQ0S, which stay for up to two years and let Google tell a repeat visit from a new one. Google processes that data as my processor, and it is the one thing on this site that can follow you between visits. That is precisely why you are asked first rather than told afterwards.

If you press Reject, the tag is loaded but every category of storage stays switched off, no page view is recorded and no cookie is written. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, because setting a cookie to record that you refused cookies would be a silly way to honour it. Clearing your browser storage for this site makes the banner ask again.

With JavaScript turned off, none of the above runs. No tag loads, no cookie is set, and no banner appears, because there is nothing to ask about.

The two typefaces are served from Bunny Fonts rather than Google Fonts. Your browser requests the font files from bunny.net, which means it sees your IP address in order to answer. Bunny Fonts states that it does not log those requests or set cookies; I chose it over the alternative for exactly that reason.

How long I keep it

If your enquiry does not turn into work, I keep it for two years and then delete both the sheet row and the email. Two years because trades come back, and it is unhelpful for both of us if I have no memory of a conversation we had last spring.

If you become a client, I keep the records for as long as I am working for you, and then for six years afterwards, because HMRC requires business records to be kept that long.

What you can ask me to do

You can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, ask me to restrict what I do with it, or object to my holding it at all. Email me and I will deal with it within a month, which is what the law allows me. There is no charge.

Deleting on request means deleting: the sheet row and the email both go, not just the one that is easier to reach.

If you think I have handled your information badly, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office atico.org.uk, and you do not need my permission to do that.

Changes

If what the form does changes, this page changes at the same time rather than afterwards. The date at the top tells you when that last happened.
